It has been eons since I last posted here. This blog site was a gift of the surplus time I had during the pandemic induced lockdown. My mother exhorted me to start a blog. Personally, I felt that in the age of Twitter, the appetite of the audience was no more than 280 odd characters especially when the author is an anonymous second year student of law.
I was proven wrong, the blog garnered views. (And continues to, despite months of inactivity). The viewership pans across multiple (usually common law) jurisdictions. Most surprisingly from China! (Statistics show they were more interested in the articles on international relations rather than the ones on law, understandably so.) The fifty odd articles I authored were more rewarding that I could ever imagine.
Fortuitously, the writings appealed to one Delhi based lawyer who offered me an internship which I had readily accepted; paid internships are rarer than rubies in this field. I had a most fruitful experience drafting and researching under her- under tight deadlines, making me a more punctual drafter.
Equally rewarding were the intellectual engagements with the readers of these blogs. The views of one gentleman pursuing law from Banaras Hindu University on popular sovereignty forced me to rethink my viewpoint. The researcher from Azim Premji University who took the efforts to reach out to me through e-mails helped me personify my readers, and realize actual human beings, and not just spammy bots read my content.
Equally riveting were the lectures where my professor of legal language would (thanks to her munificence) cite and discuss articles from this blog. The classroom discussions made me realize how a concept which to me would appear to be a trite, settled principle of law, was open for deliberation and liable to such creative interpretations. It was an indispensable lesson on the dynamism of law.
Writing this, I realize I have not done justice to this site, which has enriched me so much. I seek to remedy this injustice. Hopefully, obliging readers like you will continue to enlighten me.
